Terms of Use

Last updated: October 25, 2026

These terms apply to the Symbiote website and your use of the Symbiote software, maintained by Artifact Virtual (SMC-Private) Limited ("Artifact Virtual," "we," or "us"). By using the site or software, you agree to these terms and any applicable third-party terms.

Open-source license

Symbiote software is distributed under the MIT License. That license governs your rights to use, modify, and distribute the software and includes its own warranty and liability terms. Nothing on this page limits rights granted by the MIT License.

Development status and risk

Symbiote is in active development and may change rapidly. It may contain bugs, crash, lose data, or behave unexpectedly. Updates and fixes may be released without notice, and we do not promise compatibility, ongoing support, or that any particular issue will be fixed. Review and test changes in your own environment, keep appropriate backups, and check the latest releases regularly.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for how you configure and use Symbiote, including the actions taken by agents and integrations you enable. You must:

  • Use the software lawfully and only with systems, accounts, and data you are authorized to access.
  • Protect credentials and sensitive information, review agent outputs and actions, and maintain backups appropriate to your use.
  • Follow the terms, privacy rules, and usage limits of any model provider, channel, MCP server, API, or other third-party service you connect, including any charges they impose.

Third-party services and website availability

The website may link to third-party services and uses external resources to display content and locate release downloads. Those services are operated independently and have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their availability or policies.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The website is provided "as is" and may be unavailable or contain errors. The software's warranty disclaimer and liability limitations are set out in the MIT License. To the extent permitted by law, Artifact Virtual is not responsible for losses arising from your use of the website or software, including data loss, service interruptions, or actions taken by software you configure.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the project changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. For questions, contact Artifact Virtual through its website.
